It comes but once a year…and it’s the only time I get to wear my, “mooski”
hat!! I’m talking of course about “Beef-A-Rama”, the 55 year tradition in
downtown Minocqua. I’m a judge again this year and it’s hazardous duty,
let me tell you. I’ll be joining my radio buddy Scott King to wander the
streets of the Island City sampling the best roast beef anywhere on the
planet that day! Plus, it’s my birthday, so I’ll be looking for free
beer! If you plan on attending, get their early or you’ll end up parking
in Crivitz. There are shuttles from key locations and they’re available
on the Chamber website where you can also find info on the Cow Pie Plop.
You can make some big bucks and you have to see it for yourself. Craft
fairs, beer drinking, sandwiches, the Rump Roast Run, live music and a ton
more begins at 9am. Shortly after we’ll be judging but the thing that’s
no longer a part of the day is the, “Parade of Beefs” where merchants
cooking up their chunk of meat walks them through downtown to Torpy Park.
Well, I guess health issues put the kibosh on that one. After 50-plus
years you’d think it’s okay. In any event, I hope to see you on the
28th…and did I say it was my birthday?
