Nominations accepted thru December 1
Good people are doing remarkable things in our community and often their lifesaving deeds are done quietly, far from the spotlight. They are the ‘Real Heroes’ – the kind of people who watch out for others. They are ordinary people whose actions demonstrate the potential that is in all of us.
The American Red Cross is seeking nominations recognizing individuals and businesses from Forest, Langlade, Oneida, Price and Vilas Counties who have demonstrated a single act or continuous acts of heroism by preventing a life-threatening situation, coming to the aid of another or contributing to the safety of our community.
Consider nominating them for an American Red Cross Northwoods Heroes Award. We are seeking Youth Heroes, Law Enforcement Heroes, Emergency Response Heroes, Health Care Heroes, Good Samaritan Heroes, Community Heroes and Corporate Heroes.
Written nominations (500 words or less) should describe the act of courage and explain why your hero deserves this award. A selection committee, consisting of business and community members, will determine the winners. Winners will be honored at the 2011 Northwoods Heroes Awards Banquet in Rhinelander.
Our Northwoods Heroes Awards recognizes those who exhibit courage in the face of crisis or people who contribute to the safety of our community in extraordinary ways. This annual event honors local people for their inspiring acts of courage and emergency readiness. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
