Look at this. Snow on the ground. Deer walking around with a panicked look on their faces. Must be hunting season in Wisconsin. This is one of the best times of the year. Welcome hunters to the Northwoods. Have a safe hunt. Bag some venison. Feel free to drop off some venison sausage here at the Broadcast Center, as many of you do every year. I've got a-hankerin' for some venison bacon, too.
The Rhinelander Lions Club collects deer hides, so please don't discard them. You can drop them off at Aqualand Docks, across from Home Depot on Lincoln Street in Rhinelander. In Antigo, bring deer hides to Antigo Rental Center at 524 Edison Street. The Lions Club sells the hides, and proceeds provide scholarships for sight and hearing impaired kids at the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, WI.
It's a gas-gas-gas: The 'Ol Duffer and I took a ride today, and our chins dropped when we saw the gas prices here in Rhinelander. $1.99. We thought we'd never see prices like that again. Makes me want to take a big drive somewhere.
Packers don't play Sunday; maybe I'll get something done around my house. Mama and the kids want me to get started on another incredible outside Christmas light display. I don't mind putting up the Christmas tree, but I've never been a big fan of outside lights. Not that I don't like 'em, because I do. I'd rather have someone else do it. Oh well, give me some egg nog and I'll head out and get-r-done!
Anyone besides me hungry for a gigantic Thanksgiving meal? We've got a big gang coming over for Turkey Day. As always, I'll be on-the-air that morning for the annual Hodag Country Thanksgiving Spectacular from 5a-9a. Then I gotta get home and get that big bird in the oven! I do the turkey, my wife takes care of everything else.
Have a good one. Talk to you soon. Your Radio Pal, Bill M.

Well, it's done. Election 2008. Congratulations Barack Obama, who will become the nations 44th President, and our first African-American Commander-In-Chief. Hard to fathom how historic it is. Don't forget Joe Biden, who will become the VP. With the election done, the political commercials will vanish from TV, and soon be replaced by Christmas commercials! Can't wait to see the first Chia-Pet commercial. Or those blasted cute Coke polar bears.
We have been so spoiled with the warm temps the last week here in the Northwoods. Tain't gonna last, though. I've finally located my long-lost snow scraper and brush for my vehicle. My left ankle, which is my personal weather indicator, is aching, so snow is on the way. Hey, if anyone has a snow-blower you want to get rid of (for cheap), let me know! Seriously!
Did you have a good Halloween? We were in northern Illinois (Bears Country) for trick or treating (hey Uncle Russ and Aunt Kathy!) and had a blast. Nicest neighborhood I've ever been in for that purpose. The kids got huge bags of candy in less than hour. Of course I've had to relieve them of most chocolates; no need for their little teeth to have to go through that!
H-M-M-M-M: Actor Kevin Costner has a country band, called "Modern West." They make their Grand 'Ol Opry debut this Saturday. I just got a copy of the CD in, I'll play a few songs this week and see what the heck it sounds like. Does this mean he's done with movies?
You can witness history this Saturday in Rhinelander, when the Oneida County Courthouse re-dedication ceremonies take place. Be sure to go inside and see what a great job they did restoring the murals, and the tiffany glass on the dome. Very nice.
Monday November 10...listen to 97.5 WHDG for your chance to qualify for the Mole Lake Casino/WHDG Packer Cruises. Lots of qualifiers, and we'll give 'em away New Years Eve at Mole Lake. Gonna be fun!
