Nothing is sacred…

Nothing is sacred…

Okay, just how absurd is this?  An “academic”, and I use that term loosely, has branded Mary Poppins a racist.  Professor Daniel Pollack-Pelzner teaches Shakespeare at Linfield College, a private outfit in Oregon.  At issue are stars Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, according to the prof, in “blackface” during a section of the iconic film that had them dancing on rooftops.  If you recall, Mr. Van Dyke played a chimney sweep and was covered, as was Dame Andrews, in soot!!

What even makes this more ridiculous is that it was published in an article in the New York Times!  What…didn’t the president do anything to warrant coverage that day?

What are we becoming?  This is happening more and more and I for one can’t stand it.  How these people get a forum for stuff like this baffles me even more.  The good professor also contacted Disney about their upcoming Dumbo remake and wants them to check for anything that could be racist before it’s released.  I guess people with big ears could be offended, who knows?
